Sunday, October 21, 2018. Join our UHN Osteoporosis Program team’s efforts to raise funds for Atypical Femur Fracture (AFF) research by walking/running with us (see instructions below) or by sponsoring us.

Osteoporosis Education Event at Richmond Hill Central Library on November 1, 2018 in Richmond Hill, ON
November marks Osteoporosis Awareness Month in Canada and a great opportunity to learn more about osteoporosis and bone health. Attend an osteoporosis community education event being held at the Richmond Hill Central Library on Thursday, November 1 from 7 pm to 8:30 pm to hear from a team of osteoporosis healthcare providers including: a doctor specializing in osteoporosis care, a pharmacist, a dietician, an occupational therapist and a kinesiologist from Southlake Regional Health Centre.
Topics included in this interactive education forum include:
- About osteoporosis and how it is diagnosed
- Strategies to maximize your quality of life, while living with osteoporosis
- Food ideas that can lead to stronger bones
- Osteoporosis medications facts and fiction
- Effective ways to exercise to impact your bones
Free parking is available at the Richmond Hill Central Library to event attendees and doors to the event open at 6:30 pm. Space is limited. Osteoporosis Education Event in Waterloo on November 3, 2018 in Waterloo, ON
The Centre for Bone Health presents a free education event titled ‘ Osteoporosis: Updates & Controversies’ on Saturday, November 3 from 9 am to 12 pm. The event is scheduled to take place at St. George Banquet Hall in Waterloo, Ontario.
Event sessions include:
- Osteoporosis: Updates & Debunking Common Myths – Dr. Sadhana Prasad
- Nutrition: Bugs and Bones – Amy Waugh, RD, CDE
- Medication: Rumours vs Truth – Rosemary Killeen BscPhm, PGCert, RPh
- Exercise: What You Should Know & Hot Topics – Dr. Lora Giangregorio
Presentations will begin at 9 am and the event will end with a 30-minute panel discussion with event speakers. Light refreshments will be served and participants will have access to osteoporosis resources as well as resources from local community organizations at the event.
